Quoted the summary by Dr. Donald Kenne:
The "Tosa Diary" describing the return to Kyoto of a governor of Tosa Province,
was probably written in the year 936, from notes taken on the diary is being written by one of the ladies in the party,
it is reasonably certain that the author is the governor himself, the celebrated poet
Ki no tsurayuki. Tosa Province is the ancient name for the present Kochi-ken, in the south of Shikoku Island.[1]
My brief comment:
For the first time, I wonder Ki no Tsurayuki is queer. Unfortunately, he is not.
Many Japanese learn the Tosa Diary when Junior High, so we know the story begins from
as if written by a female companion like this as follows:
Diaries are thing written by men,
I am told. Nevertheless I am writing one, to see what a female can do.....

La andadura de la lengua japonesa dentro del campo literario se inicio, al igual que su escritura, de la mano de China. Del continente importo el arte del pincel, tanto en sus formas caligraficas y pictoricas, como en sus contenidos literarios
