When the empress Jingu passed by Shino, she waited for dawn to break for several days. She asked an old man about abnormal weather phenomenon. He said that was because of "The Sin of Azunai".
He said
"A Shinto priest at Shino and the priest at Amano were good relations between men and men. Lo and behold the priest at Shino became sick and died. Then the priest at Amino cried bitterly, and he said that he wanted to enter into the same grave with his particular favorite. The priest at Amano has committed suicide near the body of his priest at Shino at last. They were buried together at the same pit for his earnest wish. Is this the religious reasons ? ". In fact two bodies were found at the same grave pit when the grave was opened. When each was buried independently, the light of a day returned and the day and the night separated.
In Edo period, researchers of Japanese literature Tohei Okabe et al. found the beginning of "a traditional male homosexuality" DANSHOKU in Japan at "Nihonshoki Vol.9 Jingu". They call it "The Sin of Azunai".
