( from Jan. 1976 issue of VSS "Wrestling" magazine )

Fans who saw the first matches of Raul Mata and Chavo Guerrero knew instinctively they

were present at the beginning of one of wrestling's most remarkable tag team dynasties !

Two individual young Mexican wrestlers have caught the hearts and imagination of southern Californian

spectators. The two young men's exploits have thrilled audiences for several months. But fans were

jubilant when they heard Raul Mata, famed for his amazing aeronautics, and Chavo Guerrero, Mexico's

million dollar rookie, were going to join together in a tag team match against The Butcher and The Aussie.

Raul's reputation as an aerial acrobat has spread across the country recently. His famous flying dropkick

has sent many opponents crashing to the mat, allowing Mata to rack up victory after victory. His leaps

across the rings are almost legendary.

Guerrero has steadily been making a name for himself in the southern California area. Though still a rookie,

he is considered to be one of the most talented grapplers in the region. He has shown many opponents his

young age has nothing to do with his ability.

Together, the two Mexican wrestlers could prove to be one of the most dynamic tag teams in today's

wrestling world. Both Raul and Chavo were determined to be great. They trained together for several hours

every day. They worked out maneuvers incorporating the styles of both young men. And since the two were

also good friends outside the wrestling arenas, they had no trouble staying on good terms during their training..

The night of their match, Mata and Guerrero were ready to take on any competition put in front of them.

At the rate they were going, they felt ready to take on any tag team champions if they had been there.

The Butcher and The Aussie were going to provide very little competition.

What followed was almost an embarrassment. Mata and Guerrero were in such fine shape and worked so

well together as a team they made The Butcher and The Aussie look like rookies. Within 10 minutes, the

team of Mata and Guerrero had soundly defeated their opposition, winning two falls in a row. The Butcher

and The Aussie walked solemnly out of the arena, amidst the jeering of the thousands of spectators.

The team of Raul Mata and Chavo Guerrero has a bright future ahead of it.

Where they go from here is not yet known, but if they team together again, they are sure to be powerful and

popular. And soon, they may become unstoppable.
