Japanese people greatly appreciate cherry blossoms, "sakura." During the season, usually from the end of March to the beginning of April in Tokyo area, we enjoy the beauty of the blossoms, sitting under the cherry trees, drinking "sake"and singing a song. This annual custom originally started as a Buddhist ceremony among court nobles in the twelfth century.
