What is this site?

So you stumbled upon this mysterious page with lots of bugged fonts all over. This is a Japanese WWIIOL fan site. I've had this webpage for about a year and half now. I don't have lots of detailed info, but I do bring tons of daily updates about what's goint on on the forum, and of course in game, though the former tends to occupy the news page quite often... man, I love that forum.

Almost all the contents on my webpage is in Japanese right now. I'm not planning to translate all this in English, since there is a plenty of English wwiiol info pages, unless there are tons of requests for a translation.

You might wonder, "Are there ever Japanese in wwiiol?" Well, we have a relatively small community. But occasionally we get together and have tons of fun. We usually play from 9 am to 15 pm CST. A couple of ground guys get together on german channel 81 every night. Currently there are two Japanese squads. One is 1st ritter. Another is hiko 1 sentai.

I go by the name of decqeard ingame. Usually I hang around as a german infantry, though I want to fly, which unfortunately my PC doesn't permit. I do play allied, and I wanted to play allied, but most Japanese players play Axis, so I mainly play Axis now. But I will play American, when we get Pacific Theatre, and I will be kicking major Japanese butt!

Right now, I'm hoping somehow CRS will find a publisher in Japan and give a full Japanese support. But, that seems to be a long way to go. I want to help as much as I can, since I have much time to waste.(though I'm pretty much broke) Well, maybe we need more Japanese people to play wwiiol before any publishing deal etc.

I aim to attract people to the game, because IMHO this is one of the greatest invention in the 21st century. But the reality is, most Japanese people don't play a game with alphabets in it. They are scared of English. Some of the most popular MMOGs in Japan are Ultima Online, Ragnarok Online, EverQuest, and Final Fantasy 11, all of which have a full Japanese support.

It sometimes bugs me when an American game company releases a game in Japan, but the game itself is the same English version with an English interface, English fonts, usually accompanied with a pathetic Japanese manual with little info. It goes to show that most American game developpers think Japanese have no trouble reading in English, which is false, because these games don't sell.

Some companies do know how the Japanese gaming market works. The first and foremost of these companies is Electronic Arts. Well, it goes by the name of game killer in US, but it has a good publishing record in Japan. They established the basis with Ultima Online. It is one of the most popular MMORPG in Japan. Because the game has a Japanese website, Japanese Game Managers, full Japanese font support, and Japanese servers. It shows quite a bit of dedication on EA side.

Most companies don't do this. They just throw us a slightly modified English version of their software to get a pocket money, which I doubt they ever do. So, basically, if CRS ever gets serious about releasing the game in Japan, they have to do it perfectly, with a Japanese manual, Japanese staff, a Japanese website, and Japanese fonts support. Yes it will cost a ton, but it will greatly reward them in the long run.

I strayed a bit, but what I want to say is I love wwiiol. It is truly one of a kind game, and a lot more attention should be paid to this game than some unoriginal MMORPGs, FPS, and Flight Sims out there. So here I am, advertising wwiiol, posting news everyday to make it seem the game is very active. I really hope the game will get there, in 1945, germans sniping the russians that crawl under the rubbles of Berlin, the sky filled with all-mighty B-17s, a flock of T-34s shelling all over the place, which germans counter with near invincible tigers. Someday, yes, someday...
