Peter
Yates,
the Oscar-nominated English filmmaker who gave
us one of the greatest car chases in cinema
history and the defining sports drama of the
'70s, died Sunday (January 9th) in London at
the age of 81 following a long illness.
In 1979, Mr. Yates hit another creative high
with "Breaking
Away" a
deft coming-of-age story about a cycling-mad
teenager in small-town Indiana. It was nominated
for five Oscars, including best director and
best picture - giving Mr. Yates two nominations,
as he was also a producer on the film.

28 2011, Django Unchained Gets Dennis Christopher Actor Dennis Christopher is the latest to join
Django Unchained for writer-director Quentin Tarantino.
Dennis Christopher will play Leo Moguy, the lawyer
for Leonardo DiCaprio's Calvin Candie. Jamie Foxx
stars as the title character, an ex-slave who hires
a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) to track
down his kidnapped wife. Samuel L. Jackson and Gerald
McRaney also star.
Quentin Tarantino is directing Django Unchained from
his own original screenplay. The filmmaker has made
a habit out of resurrecting acting careers, and it
seems Dennis Christopher is his latest beneficiary.
Best known for his critically-acclaimed role in Breaking
Away, Dennis Christopher has primarily worked in TV
in recent years. He appeared in the 2010 indie Queen
of the Lot, which was his first movie in six years.
It
isn't known when production will start on Django Unchained.

Unchained comes to theaters December 25th, 2012
and stars Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph
Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Gerald McRaney, Dennis Christopher,
Kurt Russell, Laura Cayouette. The film is directed
by Quentin Tarantino.

survival language created by gay men in the pre-Stonewall
United States.
Of the
recent smash off-Broadway production, The New York
Times called The Temperamentals "Intellectual,
emotional, and sexual." "Combines savvy
context and ascending flights of bittersweet fabulousness",
said New York Newsday. And the Associated Press called
it, "Fascinating, entertaining, and emotionally
affecting." Playwright Jon Marans is well known
for his play Old Wicked Songs, which was a 1996 Pulitzer
Prize finalist for Drama, and has been produced throughout
the United States and translated and produced in a
dozen countries around the world. Other plays by Marans
include A Strange and Separate People, Child Child,
and Jumping for Joy.
