"Mr. Wheeler!"
"Yes."
"I love your music."
"Thank you!" (shake hands)
"Do you have some future plan to visit Japan again ?"
"No. But I can come if someone ask. It's good to come with a trio,
Azimuth."
"Oh. I love the trio. I came across Azimuth when I was a high school
student and am loving the band ever
since. And I love your compositions also."
"Thanks."
"Especially, Sea Lady and A Widow in the Window."
"Why do you know the tunes ?"
"Norma Winstone's ECM album and Live at Roccela Jonica."
"You mean an Italian record. OK. Now I am doing a rehearsal with John
Taylor, John Abercrombie, David
Holland and Peter Erskine."
"Oh, really ? And do you have some schedule of recording the band ?"
"Not yet."
"I am looking foward to listening to the albums of the band. Thank
you very much."
"Thank you."
More than ten years passed since. His activity and musical achievement
is known to all of you. I have been
following his recordings as a flugelhorninst/trumpetter and the list
is presented here. One of the remarkable
points for me at the conversation after the stage is that his next
album was entitled "Widow In The Window"
and the next 2LP(CD) set of his orchestra contained "Sea Lady".
Thanks Kenny!
