Ensemble NOMAD is a new Japanese contemporary music ensemble started from 1997 supported by Tokyo Opera City Foundation in Tokyo.From April 1998, each year 5 times concert in Tokyo Opera City Recital Hall. Music director, Norio SATO founded this ensemble with young talented musician. This ensemble consists on 2 flute player 2 clarinetist,1 horn, 1 Violin, 1 Violoncello, 1 Contrabass, 3 percussionist, 3 pianists, 1 guitar player as a fixed member and occasionally we add several extra member like viola or oboe or fagot or so on. Norio SATO(guitarist) and Ken-ichi NAKAGAWA(pianist) are conductor as well. Opera city is a new hall started from October 1997 with lots of help of the music advise by Toru TAKEMITSU and even after his unfortunately death, Opera City hall made several concert series with the ideas by Toru TAKEMITSU. And Norio SATO had deep contact with Toru TAKEMITSU as well with lots of performances by Toru TAKEMITSU. As the reason, there are lots of project specially for contemporary music and founding the new contemporary ensemble with young talented musician named Ensemble NOMAD is the also there one part of the their creating project. Once a year, Opera City organize the concert named IMC concert only by young composers pieces gathered and selected from the pieces sent from several countries Radio broadcasts
