"Every one of them is fresh and strong, no matter what kind of music they do, or how long they've been around. I'm absolutely thrilled to be having this experience."

Stars Come Out For Wales May 27 - BBC News

The Queen meets the "voices"
BBC News May 27,1999
Fireworks and song brought a fitting end to a day of celebrations in Cardiff to mark the opening of the new Welsh National Assembly.

Stars such as Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, Michael Ball and Bonnie Tyler joined scores of Welsh entertainers at a party in Cardiff Bay.

Jones performed Green, Green Grass of Home in front of an audience of about 12,000 people, which included The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and UK Prime Minister Tony Blair. (from BBC News)

Tom Jones in Cannes May 22 - Mr. Showbiz

Anjelica Huston's new movie Agnes Browne (The Mammy) was premiered on May 22 during the 52nd Cannes Film Festival. There was a wild, get down and boogie on the beach affair for this film. The sentimental Irish drama has Huston as director and star and features '60s legend Tom Jones as himself, so it was appropriate that Jones headlined the party with a full hour set that had the cynical press crowd sweating and screaming like teenagers. (from Mr. Showbiz May 24)

Attended Linda McCartney Tribute Concert April 10 - BBC News

Duets with Paul OK! April 23,1999
Some of the biggest stars from the world of pop paid tribute to Linda McCartney at a special concert at London's Royal Albert Hall on Saturday, April 10. When Tom Jones came on in the second half of the show, the audience erupted. Everyone went mad as he started to sing "She's A Woman," then "Green, Green Grass Of Home" and finally "When A Man Loves A Woman". He really got the place rocking! Tom Jones Awarded OBE March 9 - BBC News

Poses with Roger Moore
OK! March 19, 1999
James Bond legend Roger Moore has joined singer Tom Jones to receive honours from the Queen at Buckingham Palace. Tom Jones, whose first hit was It's Not Unusual in 1965, is still admired and respected by fans and fellow musicians alike. He is currently working on a new album due for release in September.

He said: "The Queen was very nice and said she was pleased to present me with the award because I'd given a lot of enjoyment to people over the years."

"I told her I had enjoyed doing it too. The first time I performed for the Queen was in 1967 at a Royal Command Performance and I have done several since. And she has told me she enjoys my music.

"When the Queen sees you perform you don't want to make any mistakes, and touch wood I haven't yet."

He was dressed in tails - but he had no top hat. "I didn't bring a hat because I thought it might mess up my hair," he joked. (from BBC News ) BBC interview
