冷却化した時代で、この紀の末には南半球の大陸に巨大な氷床が覆った。

ice-cap was present in the southern hemisphere in Late Ordovician Period "

生物　Life

陸生植物の祖先である緑藻類は淡水環境に群棲し、
蘚苔類に似た植物が生物のいなかった陸地に移住し始めた頃である。

"Green algae, the origin of land plants, lived in a freshwater.
Plants similar to bryophytes moved onto land where there were no life."

オルドビス紀末の大量絶滅 The Late Ordovician Mass Extinction

４億３５００万年前に生物の大量絶滅が起き、もっとも繁栄していた
三葉虫の種が半減し、全体としては８５％もの生物種が絶滅したといわれている。
超新星爆発によるガンマ線バーストを地球が受けたことが大量絶滅の原因という説がある

"It is said that an extinction event occurred 435 million years ago,
and 85% of all species, including 50% of gropes of Trilobites, were wiped out."
Scientists say that a gamma-ray burst might have caused the Ordovician extinction.
