世界の様子 Environment

４億２０００万年前にロレンシア大陸とバルチカ大陸などがぶつかり合い、
イアペタス海が消失。この場所にカレドニア山脈という南北に走る巨大山脈が形成される。
この巨大山脈は大気の流れを止め、そこから大量の雨が降り、
巨大山脈の麓には規模の大きい川などの淡水域をできた。
この淡水域という新天地にたくさんの植物や節足動物、魚類が進出した。

Laurentia and Baltica collided 420 million years ago and the Iapetus Ocean closed.
The Caledonian Orogeny began forming a mountain chain running from north to south.
These mountains blocked the air, produced heavy rain, and made great fresh-water rivers along the mountains.
A lot of plant, arthropod and fish appeared in this new freshwater environment.

生物 Life

植物界では始めて陸生の植物が現れた。初の維管束植物が現れ
水分を体全体に巡らすことが可能になったため、水域から
さらに遠く離れることができた。

The land plants appeared first in the kingdom Plantae.
The first vascular plants having tube-like structures that
transport water appeared, and which allowed them to move further.
The first land plants called "Cooksonia".
